Old Old pictures

Well today I have nothing to blog and it is past Bill's birthday so decided to do by heritage wall. Starting on the left is my grandmother and grandfather, Pearl and Milo Potter. In the middle is their wedding invitation dated April 9th, 1900. The bottom picture is my mother Evelyn and Lucille Potter as children. In the middle, the top picture is a 4 generation picture of my great great grandmother Harriet Pinney, great grandmotherEmily Pinney Rose, grandmother Pearl Rose Potter, aunt Lucille and mother Evelyn. The middle picture was taken in 1884 of my great great grandmother and grandfather Harriet and Elbert Pinney and all of their children. The back row second from the left is my great grandmother Emily. The right side top, is my Mother Evelyn and father Walter Smith.
The middle is Bessie Lossee Smith my father's mother and the bottom is Percy Smith, my father's father.

This picture is of James Parker, Bill's grandfather, when he was discharged from the Union army after the civil war. He was 18 years old.

Now let me think, Elbert and Harriet would be my grandchildren's great,great,great,great grandparents and my great grandchildren's great,great,great,great,great grandparents! Whew!!!!!

Leslie's request

Well Leslie you tagged me so here it goes! I met your grampy at a church camp for college age adults at Crestline California. It was love at first sight. He was so cute and had such a winning smile and great personality the I couldn't resist him and so I let him catch me. Our first kiss was ,believe it or not, a few days later and from then on it was history. He was just back from the service in WWII and I was a sophmore in college. My girlfriend had her eye on him but because he was just going to be a freshman she knew he was to young. Well, I knew better. I knew that he had been in the service for three years right out of high school and of course I didn't tell her.
He was going to attend Chapman College and I knew I had to go there too. So I talked to my grandpa and he agreed to pay my tuition. Off I went!! We were meant to be together because after about 4 weeks ,believe it or not, we were married and moved into the quonset huts for married students on the college campus.

We did not have much of a wedding but it was a nice on in our ministers home with our familys there. We had a small wedding cake and then headed off to the mountains for our honeymoon before going back to college.

The rest is history and after 58 years, 3 boys, 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren we are still here and perking along at a pretty good speed.
Life is good and our children are spectactular. Love them all.

First Sunday of the month!

Sunday was the first Sunday in September so the Matthew Parkers came over for dinner. Fun day. They didn't have to get home for a meeting or school the next day so we had a good visit. The kids were toooo cute. Max ate for the first time at the table with the Annie and Jack and you can see he really enjoyed desert. Annie and Jack sat out on the deck with Grampy and each took turns telling stories. Even though it was hot out there they were out there for at least 30 minutes or long just telling their stories. Max went out for a while and peeked in the house through the door with his little squashed face. We even sang Happy Birthday to Oliver as his birthday is today. The first Sunday of the month is my favorite and if you were here in OC you would be able to join us. There is nothing I would like any better then to have my kiddos here.
It has been very hot but then Steph and Les know about hot weather. We just aren't used to it being so warm for so long. Today it is finally cooling off and maybe I can do some yard work. The sun really burned the garden even though I was good about watering sometimes twice a day. It needs some work now to get it ready for fall plantings.
Have been making some things for Stella and will get them in the mail today. Tomorrow I will go to Breanne's and take care of Emeri for the day so that Breanne can go to the Salon and get some bookwork done. I don't know how people have time for work- I'm sooo busy and I don't even work! I love what I do though

Today is a special day because it is Lauren's Birthday. She has been our daughter for 35 years and has given Bill and I 6 gorgeous grandchildren and 12 spectacular, wonderful and precious great grandchildren. She has taken loving care of our son, David through good times and bad times. Thank you Lauren for all of the years you have been ours! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!

Today is a red letter day!!!! Lincoln is
24 today and I can hardly believe it. Here he is with 2 special girls. His wife and best girl Mimi and
our special girl Julianne. Time does fly fast!!!!! Just little while ago he was a pudgy adorable and huggable
baby boy, Now he is at least 8'1" and is married and on his way to becoming a dentist. But! I can still hug him!

Proud Mother!

Yes, I was a proud mom last eve when David invited us to attend the Mitt Romney Family Bar Q at Strawberry Farms. David and Lauren were the hosts and here David was standing in front of about 700 people introducing the next President of the United States. Dad and I were sitting at the table right in front so we had a great view! Think I was bursting my buttons!

Happy Sunday!!!

Mimi, Lincoln,Lauren, Matt and Katie, Jack, Annie,Max and cousin Linda all came for dinner Sunday. Linda has retired and moved from Germany back to Orange and Bob is coming the end of the week so making closet and door room has been a challenge but we will manage. It was fun having all here. Mimi, Lincoln and Lauren just came back from a cruise to Norway and the Artic Circle so, they had a lot to share. David and Elliott are in Chins and will be home tomorrow.
The little ones were so cute and has us all entertained. Jack was Peter Rabbit in a musical play and so he sang his Petter Rabbit songs for us. Lincoln said the blessing and did it first in Korean and then in English.
Mimi said that he speaks Korean like a native. (Of course we wouldn't know) It was a good Sunday and I really enjoyed having them all here and being able to listen to all of their adventures.

Oops!!!

Forgot my son Dan's birthday is in August too. The 18th. Sooo glad Chelsey reminded me that I forgot to include his name with the Aug. birthdays. How could I do that???????Really didn't but just didn't list it!!!!!

Time passes

Thank you to everyone for your cards and phone calls on my birthday. I have the greatest family ever. Don't know why I never feel any older (in my head). It's just that my body won't do all that I think it should. Birthdays are wonderful and I am so glad that I still have them.
Love all of your blogs so keep them up. Pictures make me feel as if I am watching all of those precious children grow. Can't believe that Andrew Parker is going to be 8 years old this month and my Stephanie has a birthday too. Oh yes Lincoln and Lauren too. Lots of birthdays!

My 3 special boys

Do you know who these adorable little boys are? Pretty cute if I don't say so myself.
Yes there were little boys once! They had their onery days and
their good days. They were always busy if not getting into
trouble just giving their mother and dad a bad time they could be
very sweet and loving. One can only imagine what 3 little boys
can be like unless you have 3 little boys!

Love them very much and always will!!!!!

Emeri came to visit today while her mom and dad were busy doing some work. We had a good time and she is such a little character. She was hamming it all up on the deck and laughing at herself. What a fun little girl and we are so blessed to have her living close. In the bottom picture she was blowing me kisses! She climbed up onto the chaise and laid back as if she were resting and was very content to stay there until I move the chaise and she wanted to sit up! Late this afternoon we are going to the airport to pick up Sean and Amy. They will be here for a few days going to Disneyland and enjoying their time away from 3 little boys. I would love to see the boys but they did need some time to themselves. Will love to see Sean and Amy though.

Another day!!!!

Today I was going to post pictures of our trip to Colorado but Chelsey's blog has the best ones so check hers out. http://delightfuldaisy.blogspot.com/ Emeri and Ella were cute as can be playing together. Ella talks and tells the cutest stories and she also sings several songs including one from sound of music. Emeri is never still and is a very busy little girl investigating everything. Such fun watching them. It was a good trip and we got to see our long time good friends Monte and Bernie Smith. Bob was here when we got home and had moved much into our garage. He is going to move back to Orange and stay here for awhile. Linda has our garage packed too with about 25 boxes that she has mailed from Germany. She has retired and is also moving to Orange. Sooooo our garage is packed but we can still get our cars into it. Tight squeeze though. Sean and Amy will be here on the 19th for a few days. It is their anniversary and so they are coming here for a celebration and Dawn is going to Washington to stay with the 3 boys. Dawn and Dan have sold their house in NC and are moving to Castle Rock, Co with Heather and Aaron. Dan is planning to do something in the music industry and they have their business of making swabs to keep them going until he gets whatever up and running. First they are going to have to find a place to live. In the meantime they will stay with Heather and Aaron. Life changes and everyday brings something new within the family. Breanne and Rob have just purchased a home in Cerritos and have their house up for sale. It is a cute house but very small for them and they really need the extra room. Escrow will close for them in a week or so and that means that they will be moving. Hopefully their house in Lakewood will sell quickly so that they don't have 2 mortgages. Guess that is all of the new things happening right now. Tomorrow will probably bring something else new. Who knows?????

Just a note

It has been awhile since I have blogged. The David Parker famlies have all been to Hawaii and we have been in Colorado visiting the Dan Parker family. Will download some pictures of them as soon as I get new batteries in my camera! so that is all for today!!!!!

A Fun Day

What a fun day!! Leslie from Houston with Audrey, Parker and Miles and Stephanie from Arizona with Mabel and Oliver. Breanne came from Lakewood with Emeri.
Breanne and Stephanie were comparing tummies! Steph is due Nov. 22 and Breanne is due Dec. 12. Two more little ones to be added to our wonderful collection of great grandbabies.

He was born in 195o and we thought he was the most beautiful baby ever! Time has gone quickly and it ishard to believe that all of the years have gone by and now he is a grandfather. My but we were young!!!

Silly mocking bird

This silly bird on top of the wreath was chasing after the cat that was on the walkway. He was relentless and followed him all around the yard.

If you look very closely you can see this silly on top of the little iron fence bside the lantern and the cat is trying to hide under the hydrange bush and you can only see his tail and legs by the hose. Think the bird was trying to get even with the cat as this cat is always stalking the birds. This went on all morning!

Guess who came to diner this afternoon???

It is the first Sunday of the month and The Matthews Parkers came to dinner. It is such a special day and if you were all here you could come too. I love watching the kiddos. We ate dinner on the deck and the weather was just right! Annie and Jack each had their own little table. Of course they thought that was special. Max was so proud of himself because he could get some chicken on his fork and into his mouth! Yea!!!!! We had a new chicken receipe and it was really good. It had chicken breasts that were browned in butter and then added chilies, lots of thinly sliced onions, sour cream, homemade salsa and cheese and after it was all mixed you put it ito the oven for 30 minutes. It was delicious! Can't say this was a low calorie dinner! It was good though. Things that are really good are not usually low calorie isn't that right? For dessert we had Leslie's "Better than you know what"cake . It was Yummy. Thank you Les for posting the receipe. Grampy did all of the dishes so I came into post the pictures. I really love the first Sunday of the month!
