Dan's visit

Dan and his friend Bradley came in last Wednesday from North Carolina. He came to go to the NAMM show and of course we loved having him here. Brad had never been to CA before so we tried to show him around. Dan came home from the show Thurs eve and guess he had the 24 hour flu so he was rather miserable for a few days. Grampy and I tood Brad to Surf city and drove down the coast through Balboa and across on the ferry. It wasn't much of a tour but it did give him some idea of the area. We came home and I had what Dan had. Not a fun part of the visit. Thank goodness Grampy and Brad didn't get it. All is fine now and we had a good time yesterday just taking it easy and visiting. Haven't spent that much time with Dan in years. Loved It!!!! Dan put in two outlets for me that I have wanted for awhile so THANK you Dan. Every time he comes he fixes something for me. Don't know if he really knows how much I appreciate the things he does. Took him to the airport this morning and so he is on his way back. Heather, Aaron and Ella are back in the States and are at home waiting for him. They are back for good and Aaron reports in Denver Co on the 1st. He will look for a place to live and then I guess Heather and Ella will follow. Know the NC family is glad to see them. Now if Heather will get a blog I can keep up with all of you. Oh yes Sean needs one too. It was all in all a good week.

Visitors at our house

Fun time! We have had some visitors. Dan came from North Carolina with a friend Brad to go to the NAMM show in Anaheim. They arrived on Wednesday and Breanne and Emeri came over for dinner to spend some time with them.
The next day Mabel and Oliver and Stephanie came over to play. Steph is here from Arizona until Saturday. Mabel and Oliver were very shy at first but soon warmed up. Dan will be here for a few days and flys out on Tuesday.
In the meantime everything breaks at the same time! Water softner, both garage door openers, printer, and faucets in the upstairs bathroom.
Now! what else can go wrong??? All will be fixed by Monday-thank goodness. Have some things to send to Leslie on family history so will get that done this morning. Then... will get on with what has to be done. Need to make 10 aprons for Homework house so will start on them.
Busy day!!!!

Fun Time

Friday was a good day. Elliott and Emma come from Indiana and Grampy and I went to David and Lauren's to see them. We went to Ruby's for dinner and then back to the house. Matt and Annie, Annie, Jack and Max came over. I have not seen Emma in a year or so and she is so precious. She warmed right up and was a good "snuggaler". Dinner was a riot- she had a sprite, Lauren's shake, her shake, chicken tenders, mac and cheese. She would take a drink of one and then another etc. Believe it or not she ate almost everything. The trains that ran on a track up by the ceiling facinated her. She was so much fun and had everyones complete attention. Loved her talking and facial expressions. What a charmer. When Matt and Katie came over the kids tookk tubbies and then watched a video. Little Emma was so tired I don't know how she stayed awake. She had to get up so early and we are hours behind her in time. She is a trooper. Lauren was putting her to bed as we left and I went in to kiss her goodnight and her eyes were closing when her head hit the pillow. So glad to see Elliott and that he brought Emma. Would love to see the others too and we are going to definitely plan a trip to Indiana.

Guests for Dinner

Last Friday night Mimi, Lincoln and Julianne came over for dinner. It was great being able to visit with them and find out what all of their plans were. We have such smart and talented grandchildren. Both Julianne and Mimi graduate this year and then Julianne is off to Oxford. She will be majoring in African studies and living in,... (oops I forgot which school). She said that the university is set up much differently than ours. She will be living in a school with all different majors and all graduate students. Her school is right in the middle of the campus as I understand it. She will be have a wonderful experience. Lincoln is going on with his dental school curriculum and someday we will have 2 dentists in the family. As Jack would say- "It was a fun evening". They looked at old pictures and were showing Mimi what we used to do on Christmas Eve. She was here last Christmas Eve but I don't think we looked at any pictures. They were checking out the cousins pictures and trying to get all of the babies lined up as to who belonged to who! There was only one problem-it was such a quick trip and on the spur of the moment so they weren't in SoCa for more than a couple of days. School started the following week.
Talked to Elliott yesterday and he was in Boston with David and Lauren at a luncheon meeting with Mitt Romney. Of course they weren't the only ones there but David is working on his finance committee so he will be busy raising money for a great candidate. I am glad Elliott got to be there. He will be out here on Friday and Saturday so hopefully we will get to see him. Last week was a good week.

Dinner in Downtown Disney

This is the Ron Franz family. Linda's youngest brother. Tyler is the oldest and then Conner and Parker. Nice boys and we had a nice time having dinner with them Wed. night. They had spent the day at Disneyland and so we met them for dinner in Downtown Disney. After dinner we went over to the New Orleans restraurant then found a table outside (hard to do ) had Benets' for dessert. It was soooo crowded in Downtown it was hard to move around. Seemed as though everyone was there! Guess California Adventure and the Fantasy Land were just as bad. The kids wanted to stay and see the fireworks so we left and they went on back into the park. Today they are going to Knotts and then for breakfast here tomorrow before they head back to Ukiah. It is great getting to see them and visit.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year
Happy New Year It has been a busy time! Lots of company and trying to get all of the Christmas stuff put away. Had to clean the attic first and then get those plastic containers to put the "stuff" in. Goodness there are alot of decorations. Wish you were all close so that you could share them and take some home. I certainly don't need so many. Anyway, big job done!!!!! Linda came for a few days before she goes back to Germany. Think she had fun- Our minister Stan is single and so is Linda so they spent New Year's Eve together. Hummmmm I wonder! They went to college together and I am sure they had fun talking about old times. Linda needs a male friend. Ron and Dana (Linda's brother and family) came over last night and we had a nice visit. They came down from Ukiah to go to Disneyland for a few days. We are meeting them tonight in Down town Disney for dinner. Their 3 boys remind me of my 3 boys. They are really a great family. Will post a picture of them tomorrow. Time is passing quickly and I need to get ready so will post more tomorrow.
