1967- new car!

We lived in Villa Park, which was a rural area at the time. We had this old barn in the back yard where the boys used to play. Dan practiced his drums out there and we had a barn dance for Bob's 17th birthday. Our house was build in 1905 and was a craftsman style. Sears used to sell a kit house for 500.00 dollars and this is what our house was. The Holditches , an old Villa Park family had it built for their first home after they were married.
In 1975 Grampy bought the 1967 jag for ?? but it wasn't much compared to cars today. Bob was driving the old blue chevy station wagon and still trying to fix up the old white ford that he had purchased from a friends father. It didn't run but he finally got it running and then David could drive the blue chevy until he bought a car and then it was Dan's turn. That old chevy had twohundred and fifty thousand miles plus on it when it finally died.
The little jag was a pretty car and the boys took it to the proms. It was special to all of us.Posted by Picasa

Dan

Pictures of Dan when he was in high school. Notice the railroad tracks across the street. The houses across the street were brand new. Before that there were orange groves and we were really in the country. It has all changed so much. Love his taped up guitar! Some of you have never seen him without a moustache.

Grandpa Milo Potter and the 3 boys in front of the house at 4509 E Ocean Blvd in Long Beach. Grandpa built the rock wall around the front yard. The house is no longer there and there are 2 three story apartments on the property. It is sad because there was so much of grandpa's hand work with rock and tile. He was quite a worker and very proud of his home. Here he was dressed to go a performance of a Barber Shop Quartet that he sang in. There are lots of good memories of Grandpa.

A fun day at Disneyland

Can you believe Disneyland with ever so few people? We surprised the boys and went here on David's 5th birthday. They were so excited when we drove into the parking lot that I thought the top would come right off of the car. It was a surprise and they did not know where we were going. What a fun day!!! Hot summer day in Bakersfield

One Sunday we traveled from Torrance to Bakersfield for the dedication of their new church. Bill was in the cradle roll of the old church and his name was in the plaque on the new church.

Long hair and moustashes

Do you recognize these young kids?????
Of course they didn't think they were so young.
This picture must have been about 1968.
David and Lauren were seniors in high school, Bob
was going to Orange Coast College and Dan was a
junior in high school. My how our family has grown
from these four to 45 or so. I need to recount the
number, but is somewhere around there.
We are truly blessed.

The year 1953

I was cleaning out some drawers and I found this old picture. They were such cute little boys.
This was in front of our first house in
North Torrance. We purchased it for
12,000 dollars. Times have changed!!
Can you even imagine it?
Danny was 4 months old and David 2
and Bob 3. This was in 1953.
Notice-David has a watch on. Do you think he could tell time?

Good Memory

I know it is after Christmas but I found this old picture while sorting out others.
Going from left to right: Cashel, Traci, Leslie, Heather. Stephanie is Mary and Elliott
is Joseph. Sean is a king and Matthew is a shepherd along with Lincoln. Julianne is baby Jesus.
Heather and Leslie read the Christmas story. This year Annie and Jack were Joseph and Mary and Annie's doll was baby Jesus. Time passes quickly so it is important to make those good memories.

Heather, Leslie, Traci and Cashel made angelic angels. Stephanie was Mary and
Elliott was Joseph. Matthew was the good shepherd watching Lincoln the little
shepherd. Sean made a handsome wiseman. Seems like yesterday but of course
I know it wasn't. These were special Christmas times and I have many good memories.

A special day!!!!!!! Dec. 6, 1977

Leslie, it takes wonderful things
To make a granddaughter like you.
Generosity and kindness to name just a few.
You're really very special I want you to know
And each year my feelings continue to grow.
I am mighty fortunate to have someone like you.
A granddaughter that is loyal, caring, and true.
Warm thoughts and wishes I'm sending to you.
A wish that all of your dreams will come true
.
Happy Birthday
P.S. Being thirty is really pretty wonderful!!!!!

We love you very much. This is my recycled pictures from last year but it is so cute and so special that I am using it again.
Love you
Grammy and Grampy

Busy Time

Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming! There is so much to do and so little time. Need to start cards, decorate the tree, put up lights etc. Not this week! Will do the tree at the church tomorrow. Today there is a meeting this afternoon at 1:00 and an alumni board meeting at 5:30. This morning I need to go to the printers to get the programs printed for our Republican Woman fundraiser on Saturday. Tuesday I will go to the church to do the tree and decorations in the Fireside Room. Wednesday I go to Breanne's and help with the babies and leave there by 3:00 so I can get home for a haircut. Thursday I am back at the church to finish up so somewhere between all of this maybe I can get something done at home. Then Thurs night we have a party (not here) for a group of friends that worked for American Cement when Bill was VP. Friday seems pretty good and then Friday night we go to dinner and concert at Chapman. Saturday is our big fund raiser and I have decorated 4 trees to put into the raffle. Trees are only 3' high so they aren't very big but still alot of work! We will have 30 trees decorated and sponsored by various businesses and individuals. They donate 100.00 and put 100lights and 50.00 worth of ornaments on it and then 100.00 of gifts beneath the tree. We have a luncheon and fashion show and seat about 350-400 women. We also have a opportunity drawing of 1000. cash. These women spend lots for the trees and hope that their tickets are drawn for the trees they choose. We do well and make 12,000-15,000 thousand each year.
It is a big event and I will be soooooooo glad when it is over. I can't believe that I said I would be co-chairman again next year! Crazy!!!!! Oh well life never gets dull at least not for me.
Next week-can't wait!!!!!!!
